What we collect

  • Account details: email, display name, and sign-in method (email or Google).
  • Learning data: languages, answers, conversation text, progress, mistakes to review, and preferences.
  • Voice: when you tap the microphone, the clip is sent to be turned into text. We keep the text, not the audio. Voice time-capsule recordings stay on your device.
  • Payments: handled by our payment partner. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Technical data: basic device, browser and error information to keep the app working.

How we use it

To run your lessons and conversations, schedule review, personalise practice, process payments, provide support, and keep the service secure. We don't sell your personal data and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

Who processes it

We use trusted providers for hosting and database storage, AI language models (for conversation, feedback and speech-to-text), and payments. They process data only on our behalf.

Storage on your device

The app stores some things locally (for example offline waves, keyboard and sound preferences, and voice time-capsule clips). Clearing your browser data removes them.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (such as payment records).

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how it's used, by emailing support@tonguetide.io. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

TongueTide isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change and tell you about material changes.
